Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Kan. (June 11, 2019) – Alex Hill captured her season-best finish during a challenging Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek that was shortened from five to three races due to rain.

“We had a decent week,” she said. “We could’ve done better. We just need to get better on some things.”

Hill began the week a week ago Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, where she posted her best finish of the year with a 14th-place run after qualifying through the B Main and starting 18th.

“Devil’s Bowl was probably the heaviest I’ve ever seen it,” she said. “We had a decent night, but it was pretty much hammer-down all night and we had trouble getting anywhere.”

The following night at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., brought a promising start in the feature. Hill started 11th after finishing third in her heat race.

“We were really good the first part of the feature at Lawton,” she said. “We were able to pass some cars and got up to about eighth or ninth. But then it suddenly slicked off and the bottom went away. We weren’t expecting it to change that much. We didn’t have the car set up for that and it became really tight so we dropped back quite a bit and ended up finishing 17th.”

Following a rainout at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., on Thursday, the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek concluded on Saturday at Salina Speedway.

“Salina was slick right away in hot laps,” Hill said. “That made it a challenging night for me since slick tracks are my most difficult.

“I started fourth in my heat and got passed by probably the two best drivers there and finished sixth. I started near the back of the feature and eventually pulled in to save my car since I really wasn’t getting anywhere.”

Hill placed 11th in the Speedweek standings, which marks her career-best finish during the grueling week.

She will join the rest of the ASCS National Tour as it begins its western swing this weekend in South Dakota at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen on Friday and at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City on Saturday.
