Berry Jr. takes runner-up finish in Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown
Tom Berry Jr. visited Marshalltown Speedway (Marshalltown, Iowa) on Friday evening to participate in the IMCA Modified portion of the Dale DeFrance Memorial after rain had postponed the event by one week.
Berry’s Brodehl Trucking No. 11x machine was one of 43 IMCA Modifieds at the famed quarter-mile track. Battling a stout field of competition, the driver turned in a fifth-to-second run in his heat race.
He started 10th on the grid for the 34-lap, $3,044-to-win A-Main and moved forward quickly, taking the second position on Lap 9. He went on to finish as runner-up, trailing winner Cayden Carter by 0.547 seconds. Tripp Gaylord rounded out the podium, with Jacob Hobschedit finishing fourth and Tim Ward taking fifth.
