Tom Berry Jr. Embarks on Vado's Wild West Shootout
Tom Berry Jr. embarked on his first endeavor into the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts over the weekend.
On Saturday night the event came to life and with 53 Modified entries in the pit area Tom advanced from sixth to third in his heat race to earn the seventh-starting spot for the 40-lap feature.
He advanced two spots to finish fifth in the 25-lap feature behind Jake O'Neil, Tanner Mullens, Dan Ebert, and Rodney Sanders.
Action continued on Sunday night with another $2,000-to-win program. Tom rocketed from the eighth-to-second in his heat race to earn the pole position for the 25-lap feature.
Berry Jr. paced the field for the first 20 laps of the finale before jumping the cushion in turn four, allowing Dereck Ramirez to slip past for the lead.
Tom went on to finish second in the feature behind Rodney Sanders, Dan Ebert, and Tyler Davis.
Action continues on Wednesday night with 47 entries in attendance. Inching into the main event with a sixth-to-fourth performance in his heat race, Tom locked into the 16th-starting spot for the feature.
Passing six cars in the 25-lap feature, he crossed the finish line in 10th.
