Saturday September 14th would see some very fast racing conditions at Willamette Speedway as some new clay was recently brought in. The conditions were so fast that to new track records were set in the IMCA Modifieds and Street Stocks. Four classes were in the house which included the DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks. Also to note was that on Friday the 13th the Karts would be in action for the final time in 2013 (results below).

Celebrating his twenty-first birthday Portland’s Brian Cronk would be the class of the field to win his first DIRTcar Super Late Model feature of the year in his Metro Services/Gasner Trucking/Dog Lovers Gold #29 Rocket. Cronk would perform a clean sweep by setting fast time and winning both the trophy dash and heat race.

After setting a new track record Matt Mitchell from Vancouver, Washington would visit victory lane for the first time this year in IMCA Modified action. Mitchell, driving the A-Line Concrete Cutting/Shepard Performance #15M Rayburn, would spend the first half of the feature trying to obtain the lead and once he earned it he would spend the second half running away from the rest of the field.

Randy Jackson of Salem would earn his first Street Stock triumph of the year . Jackson, who would also set a new track record in qualifications, would earn the lead while racing back to the yellow late in the race and would hold off all challengers for the victory in his #24C Camaro.

Don Croy from Prineville was once again the winner in the Mini Truck ranks. Starting dead last in the feature he would take the lead on the opening circuit and lead the entire distance. The win would mark the ninth time that the Carson Oil/Guy’s Automotive and Lube/Prineville Sign and Banner #24 Toyota has visited victory lane.

Next Saturday evening the Willamette Speedway will host action on the 1/3-mile clay oval on September 21st. The event will be billed as the championship night for the Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks and presenting the excitement are the fine folks at Les Schwab Tires. Even though it will be the final point race for the three aforementioned divisions the complete card will consist of DIRTcar Super Late Models, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks.
