Willamette Speedway would have another thriller of a race on Saturday August 10th for the IMCA 40-Lap Special. In addition to IMCA Modifieds on hand for the night the Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks were in the house. The weather would turn out to be very good despite the surrounding areas having thunderstorms and rain showers.

Vancouver, Washington’s Matt Mitchell was the car to beat for much of the IMCA Modified main event. Driving his A-Line Concrete Cutting/Shepard Performance/Van Raden Industries #15M Rayburn, Mitchell, would lose the lead just past the halfway mark. Passing him would be Portland’s Joey Tanner making just his second start in a Modified at Willamette. Once Tanner would obtain the lead he would not lose it and would put his X-Factor Race Cars #111 X-Factor in victory lane. It would be his second win of 2013 at the 1/3-mile clay oval as Tanner had won the season opener back in April in DIRTcar Super Late Models division.

Earning his second win of the season in the Super Sports Steve Moore from Scio would dominate the field. Moore would lead every single lap of the main to run away with the deal and return his Xtreme Motorsports/Schram Brothers Excavating/Bodies By Steve-O #21 MasterSbilt back to the winner’s circle. The same could be said for Brian Smith of Albany in the Sportsman ranks. Smith would check out to earn his third win in the division this year in the Glen Hackney owned Hackney Racing/Wirth Wireless #1 Pierce.

Kevin Roberts was the big winner in the Street Stocks. Roberts and the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Rainbow Rentals #13 Monte Carlo of Bricen James from Lebanon put on a heck of a show until James unfortunately got caught up in a wreck. Roberts would put his Big Sky Landscaping #88 Camaro in victory lane for the second time this year. Prineville’s Don Croy would win the Mini Trucks in dominating fashion to make it his eighth win in his Carson Oil/Guy's Automotive and Lube/Prineville Sign and Banner #24 Toyota.

The Willamette Speedway will host the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region on Saturday August 17th. This is the final time the series will visit the facility in 2013 so you do not want to miss this race. Support classes for the evening include the Sportsman and Mini Trucks. On Sunday afternoon, the 18th the Karts will be in action for the first ever Summer Sizzle Tour.

This event will feature the top names in the karting world in the Pacific Northwest and this race will kick off at 11:00 AM with Hot Laps and General Admission is FREE on Sunday. We would like to send a friendly reminder that the DIRTcar Super Late Model races that were supposed to take place on Tuesday August 13th and Wednesday the 13th have been cancelled.
