Podium performance in Southern Showcase opener at Swainsboro
Brandon Overton competed in a pair of events in his home-state of Georgia on Friday and Saturday with a visit to Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Ga.) for the two-day Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series-sanctioned Southern Showcase.
After topping the 33-car field in time trials, Overton dashed into the preliminary feature with a convincing eight-lap heat race victory. With $5,000 on the line, Brandon inched forward one spot in the 30-lapper to register a third-place finish. He trailed Ashton Winger and Jimmy Owens to the checkers with Zack Mitchell and Ethan Dotson rounding out the Top-5.
On Saturday, Brandon followed up a fifth-place outing in his heat with a consolation win. Starting the $23,000-to-win Southern Showcase finale in 17th, Overton gained six positions in the 60-lap affair to cap off the weekend with an 11th-place finish.
