Overton lands a pair of top-fives at Portsmouth and Tyler County
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) brought the Wells Motorsports team and Brandon Overton to Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) on Saturday afternoon to kick off the Labor Day weekend with the River Days Rumble.
With 34 Late Models entered, Overton outran overall fast qualifier Adam Stricker in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. Chasing a $15,000 payday in the feature, Brandon managed a fourth-place finish after dealing with an overheating engine throughout the 50-lapper.
For the 55th running of the Hillbilly 100 on Sunday at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W. Va.), Brandon raced into the $30,000-to-win weekend finale with a heat win. Muscling forward one spot in the 100-lap affair, Overton posted a third-place finish, which came behind Jonathan Davenport and Daulton Wilson with Ricky Thornton Jr. and Hudson O’Neal completing the top-five finishers.
Brandon remains in fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
