Ninth-place finish in Mountain Moonshine Classic prelim at Smoky Mountain
Brandon Overton returned to the driver’s seat of the Wells Motorsports No. 76 Late Model on Friday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the doubleheader weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
With heat races eliminated due to track conditions, Brandon followed up the 11th-fastest qualifying lap in his 22-car group with a ninth-place finish in his 30-lap prelim.
For the second round of the Mountain Moonshine Classic on Saturday, Overton missed a transfer spot in his heat but raced his way into the $50,000-to-win Mountain Moonshine Classic with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Rolling off 21st, Brandon retired on lap 25 after pitting on the fifth circuit.
Brandon remains in third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
