Four consecutive top-10 finishes in Iowa Speedweek
Returning to action the following night after Monday’s rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Brandon Overton was one of 33 Castrol FloRacing Night in America entries signed in at Marshalltown Speedway (Marshalltown, Iowa) on Tuesday for the fifth stop of the miniseries.
With a runner-up finish in his heat placing him on the fourth row for the opener, Overton advanced forward four positions to finish third. Despite an ill-timely caution on lap-27 that slowed the Georgia pilot’s momentum, Brandon raced onto the podium, chasing Hudson O’Neal and Bobby Pierce.
In a field of 40 cars on Wednesday at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa), Brandon edged his way into the $23,023-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat. Recording his third consecutive top-five finish, Overton passed five cars in the 50-lapper to place fourth.
For the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned You Call We Haul 50 on Friday at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa), Overton’s eighth-place finish in his heat pinned him on the 10th row for the feature. With $12,000 on the line, Brandon marched forward 12 spots to register an eighth-place finish.
The four-race swing concluded on Saturday at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) with Overton qualifying for the $15,000-to-win CRST Transportation Solution 50 with a runner-up run in his heat race. Reeling in a podium finish in the 50-lap finale, Brandon improved five positions to finish second.
Brandon sits in third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
