Brandon Overton eighth in Castrol FNiA stop at Lincoln, 21st-to-4th at FALS
Brandon Overton followed the Castrol FloRacing Night in America to Spoon River Speedway (Canton, IL) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the second edition of the Illinois Speedweek.
With the 48 Late Models on the grounds for the opener of the four-race miniseries, Brandon’s sixth-place finish in his heat relegated him into a consolation race for another shot at the feature. Taking the top-three, Overton came one spot shy with a fourth-place outing.
For another $23,023-to-win event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Overton laid down the third-fastest lap in his 24-car group in time trials before placing second in his heat. Moving forward three spots in the 50-lap feature, Brandon steered to an eighth-place finish.
On Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Farmer City 74, Brandon raced his way into the show with a runner-up showing in his heat, however, the 74-lap feature was postponed by weather to May 15th.
Following the LOLMDS on Saturday, Overton invaded Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the FALS Spring Shootout. After a lengthy weather delay, Brandon followed up a sixth-place showing in his heat with third-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. With $30,000 on the line in the feature, Overton advanced through the field 17 spots in the 60-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Bobby Pierce, Daulton Wilson, and Brandon Sheppard to the checkers with Jimmy Owens coming in fifth.
On Monday for the rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Brandon battled an ill-handling car to a 16th-place finish.
Brandon is currently tied for second in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
