Pair of runner-up finishes with Lucas Oil in Georgia

With Friday’s opener at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) rained out, Brandon Overton followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Ga.) on Saturday evening for the Dixie Shootout. With 39 Late Models entered, Overton clocked in second fastest in his group before picking up a heat race win. Improving one spot in the 50-lap feature, Brandon notched a runner-up finish, which came behind race-long pacesetter Jonathan Davenport. Chris Madden, Tim McCreadie, and Earl Pearson Jr. completed the Top-5 finishers.

For the Rome Showdown on Sunday at Rome Speedway (Rome, Ga.), Brandon’s second-place finish in his heat race placed him sixth on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win finale. Passing four cars in the 40-lap affair, Overton recorded his second-straight runner-up finish. He trailed Jonathan Davenport across the line with Tim McCreadie, Kyle Bronson, and Ricky Thornton Jr. rounding out the Top-5
