Brandon Overton
Top-10 finish in World Finals finale at Charlotte
Brandon Overton made a mid-week trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Tuesday afternoon for the Prelude to the Finals. With a heat race victory placing him second on the starting grid for the $7,500-to-win A-Main, Overton lost his spoiler on lap 25 from contact with another competitor but held onto finish second in the 40-lapper. He followed Daulton Wilson across the line with Bryson Harper, Dennis Franklin, and Adam Yarbrough rounding out the Top-5.
On Friday evening, Overton traveled to the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) to pilot the Wells Motorsports No. 76 Late Model along with his making his debut in the Jason Sides-owned No. 11k Sprint Car for the NGK NTK World Finals. Drawing 48 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries, Brandon secured his spot into the preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his heat. He suffered a flat tire early in the event that saw him retire on lap 27.
In a field of 46 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars, Brandon’s 12th-place finish in his heat relegated him into the C-Main. Improving one spot in the 10-lap affair, Overton logged a 12th-place outing.
Running in only the Late Model ranks on Saturday, Overton came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth-place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Brandon locked into the 17th-starting position for the finale. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Overton advanced forward nine spots in the 40-lapper to register an eighth-place finish.
