Overton finished 0.961 seconds ahead of Ross Bailes at the checkers in his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.
“What a race, man. [Modoc’s] kinda my home track. It’s the closest thing to me, so to win in front of everybody I know, it’s pretty awesome,” Overton said. “Man, me and Ross [Bailes] race so good together. That’s awesome, especially here, to be able to race side-by-side like that. We’d come off that corner down there (in turn two) hitting the chip. He’s right there, he’s right there. Hat’s off to all my crew that works on this thing.”
In a field of 29 cars, Overton timed in third fastest overall in qualifying before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Receiving the sixth-starting position for the A-Main via the redraw, Brandon closed in on a podium spot near the halfway point of the 40-lapper as he tackled the high-side on the 4/10-mile oval.
Sneaking past Dustin Mitchell on lap 29 to take control of second, Overton set his sights on race-leader Ross Bailes as the duo began battling over the final 10 circuits. Overtaking Bailes on the high side on lap 36, Brandon Overton sailed to victory over Bailes, Mitchell, Hudson O’Neal, and Kyle Stricker.
