Overton scores fifth-place finish at BRP; ends Florida Speedweeks atop Lucas Oil standings
For the final two rounds of the Florida Speedweeks with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Brandon Overton headed to Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Fla.) on Monday to return behind the wheel of the Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Late Model. In a field of 49 cars, Overton notched a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top-5, Brandon passed seven cars in the 40-lapper to place fifth behind Ricky Thornton Jr., Mike Marlar, Hudson O’Neal, and Devin Moran. (Heath Lawson photo)
On Tuesday afternoon, Brandon failed to transfer out of his heat race, sending him into the B-Main. Grabbing the third and final transfer spot, Overton locked into the 21st-starting position for the $10,000-to-win finale. Clawing forward two spots in the 40-lap affair, Brandon Overton logged a 19th-place outing.
Brandon remains atop the LOLMDS standings as the series takes more than a month hiatus before heading to Atomic Speedway (Alma, Ohio) on March 19 for the Buckeye Spring 50.
