John Duty scores runner-up finish in Clair Arnold Memorial
With Friday’s Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) event at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) rained out, Justin Duty visited Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) to pilot the No. 17 Late Model for the MARS Racing Series event. After taking part in time trials, Mother Nature washed out Duty’s heat race and feature.
On Saturday, Duty’s MLRA event at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) fell to bad weather but his dad returned to action at Willamette Speedway (Lebanon, Ore.) for the $5,000-to-win Clair Arnold Memorial. Charging from the seventh-starting position in the feature, John was up third by the 15th circuit and made a pass for second on lap 30 but was unable to track down Thomas Hunzinker. Duty trailed Hunzinker to the checkers with Rob Mayea, Jeff Rash, and McLain Beaudoin rounding out the Top-5.
