ARCA Truck Series Return To Columbus Motor Speedway !

Millersport, OH – We have reached the halfway point of the 2015 ARCA Truck Series season. As the second half begins, the series makes their return visit to Columbus Motor Speedway for the final time in 2015.

It has been an exciting season thus far. We have seen three first time winners in 2014 Holley Performance Rookie of the Year winner Jeff Myers Jr. and veterans Shawn Szep and new to the group Brandon Huff. Myers and Szep didn’t just notch their first win, but have found victory lane twice. Myers and Huff have also taken their first Rocco Kirsch Pole Awards this season, with Huff claiming three consecutive awards.

It has for sure been a season to remember. The most intriguing part is the points leader, Cody Quarrick. Quarrick has yet to claim a pole award or win a race. However, he has been the most consistent driver this season. That consistency includes three second place finishes.

As the ARCA Truck Series makes their return visit to Columbus Motor Speedway, the battle for the series championship has become very tight amongst the top three drivers. Only 28 points separate Quarrick in first and Huff in fourth. A few bad races by any driver at the top, and the landscape could change very quickly.

One driver that could use a breakthrough to be in that battle is Billy Strehle. After a rough start to the season in Toledo, Strehle took his first career top-five at Lake County Speedway the following race. Since then, Strehle has been a competitor to watch week in and week out as he dials in his Coyote Entertainment Chevy. If he finds a way to get in victory lane this Saturday, he could turn the points standings upside down.

Another driver to keep an eye on is Brad Yunker. He started the season with a top-five at Toledo, but his season since has been a roller-coaster ride. One that includes a two DNFs. One strong finish in the top three could propel him into the battle for the championship.

Looking back at the race held earlier this season, the stats tell us that Shawn Szep and Brian Brewer would be the two drivers to watch for. Szep, a long time competitor in local racing at Columbus Motor Speedway, has a win and second place finish at the two events held at Columbus Motor Speedway. While fellow local driver Brian Brewer had one of the faster trucks in the first race this season, while dealing with multiple issues that held him from a strong performance. If Brewer can steer clear of any issues that have been plaguing his season this weekend, he could give the field a run for the win.

As for Brian Brewer, he is searching hard for a good finish to make up ground in the Holley Performance Rookie of the Year standings. Multiple DNF’s have put him in quite the deficit to leader Katlynn Leer. Leer is also coming off a rough finish at Angola, where she had her first career DNF.

This Saturday’s event at Columbus Motor Speedway could prove to be a pivotal race many drivers’ quest for a championship. One thing is for certain, there will not be any lack of excitement.

Don’t miss the action this Saturday as the ARCA Trucks make their final visit to Columbus Motor Speedway in 2015. Cannot make it out to the track? Then follow along from wherever with our Live Timing or get updates on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
