Katlynn Leer Has Already Made History This Year In The ARCA Truck Series; Is Set To Make More At Lake County October 18th!
October 10th, 2015 (Millersport, Ohio) — Of the about 190 drivers who have competed in the ARCA Truck Series, only eight have been women.
Lindsay Daniels, Stephanie Beane and Kendra Leer have made one series start. Daniels finished tenth at the Nashville Fairgrounds in 2005, Stephanie Beane raced in 2013 at Flat Rock with a DNF in 14th and Leer made her lone voyage (so far) last month at Kentucky Motor Speedway, placing eighth!
Michelle Bischoff, daughter of veteran competitor Duane Bischoff, made two series starts in 2008, both on the dirt at Springfield and DuQuoin, placing 15th and 14th respectively.
Amber Collins and Deana Groves have three ARCA Truck results to their credit. Collins competed in 2010 recording finishes of 10th, 15th and her best in 9th at Skyline. Groves (veteran Frank Wilson Jr.’s niece), had promising results in 2011 with two ninths and a seventh (completing every lap) at the season ending Lake County.
The very first to take an ARCA Truck Series green flag was Kendra Lake of Toledo, Ohio who was present at the second ever running at Toledo Speedway in 1999. Despite wrecking in that race, Lake (now Lake-Carroll) went on to record two seventh place finishes, one at Baer Field (on the lead lap) and in her next to last series start in 2002, at Adirondack.
However, Katlynn Leer has set a new mark for women behind the ARCA Truck Series wheel for women! She has already competed in more consecutive races (9), has more lead lap finishes (2), both coming this season, and is credited with leading the first lap at Angola in July! As well, she is the highest finishing young lady in series history with her sixth at Kentucky (and she also led practice there)! For more from Kentucky, her and her sister Kendra were the first two women two compete in an event at the same time, and are the first two sisters to be in the same ARCA Truck race! And to top that off, Leer is seventh in points and cannot finish worse than that (barring a major unforeseen mishap on the way to the event) which will make her the highest finishing female in series history!
But it doesn’t end there! With her green flag at Lake County, Katlynn will be the first ever women to complete an entire ARCA Truck Series schedule, as well as tying Lake for all-time series starts with 11. And, 16-year-old Katlynn leads the ARCA Truck Series Holley Performance Rookie of the Year standings and mathematically cannot be beaten which will make her the first ever women to claim that honor!
The 2015 ARCA Truck Series finale will take place the weekend of October 17th and 18th at Randy Holbrook’s beautiful Lake County Speedway in Painesville, Ohio, with the green flag falling at approximately 3:00 P.M. As part of the facility’s “Halloween Speedtacular Weekend”, point leader Jeff Myers Jr. and Cody Quarrick are separated by only 11 markers! With points awarded for pre-entering, qualifying, heat races, the leader at the midway break, laps led and most laps led…and not to mention where they would finish… every single on-track action with be of utmost importance! So make your plans now to attend this exciting and historic event!
