William E. (Spanky) Lewis, 22, Rootstown, OH, died Friday from injuries received in a racing accident. Spanky was racing in his heat race when an axle broke, He got out of the car to look at the damage when he was hit by another car who didn't see the yellow flag.

He is survived by wife, Brenda (Schoppelrey); parents, Jack and Mary Lea Lewis of Rootstown; brothers, John, Ronald and Charles all of Rootstown; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Agnes Orange of Ebinsburg, Pa.; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Roberta Frampton of Commodore, Pa.
