Marks Overcomes Early Issue to Score Sixth-Place Result in Season Finale

Inside Line Promotions – NEWBERRYTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 18, 2013) – Brent Marks wrapped up his spectacular season with another top 10 on Saturday at Susquehanna Speedway Park.

“We had a super good car on Saturday,” he said. “We were pretty fast in time trials. The car felt really stable and really smooth.”

Marks timed in third quickest during qualifying, which locked him into the feature as one of the six fastest qualifiers.

“We were just working on the car and changing on the setup,” he said. “We went to change the left rear spacing and noticed there was a hole in the rear end. We scrambled to get that changed before the feature.”

The team made the part swap before the main event, which Marks started on the outside of the second row.

“We had a really good car in the feature,” he said. “We got up to third right away and about four laps in we were passing for second and it jumped out of gear. That was pretty devastating. I felt like we had a car to win the race.”

Marks stopped on the track, which forced him to restart last – 24th. Marks picked up more than a dozen positions in the ensuing dozen laps before ending with a sixth-place result, which was his 57th top 10 of the season.

“That was still a good run,” he said. “That was unfortunate because I think we had a chance to win that thing. It was a good, solid finish to end our year.”

Marks finished the season with a career-best five victories, 22 top fives and 57 top 10s.
