Marks Rallies for 56th Top 10 of the Season to Close Year at Williams Grove

Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2013) – Brent Marks took advantage of a light weekend to post another top 10.

Marks advanced from 11th to a seventh-place result on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway during the features-only event.

“All we had was features and of course we drew the worst pill we could draw,” he said. “Being third in points and with (Fred) Rahmer not racing that put us second in points. It made the job a lot harder.”

The inversion for the 25-lap feature was a 12, which started Marks on the inside of the sixth row.

“I had a really good car in the feature,” he said. “We had a ton of speed and got really racy. It was one of those nights when everybody was pretty good. We got up to seventh, but were unable to get any further than that. It was kinda all we could do. Overall, we had a solid night. The car was really good and really fast and that’s all I can ask for.”

It marked his 56th top 10 of the season and capped his season at the famed half-mile oval.

“We’ve been able to overcome a lot this season and especially at Williams Grove,” he said. “We’ve had a top-five, top-10 car week in and week out. That shows how strong we’ve been and how dangerous we could be if we could just take that little extra step to position ourselves for every night.

“I was thrilled with the way we ran this year finishing third in points at The Grove. That’s nothing to be disappointed about. It was a long season and a lot of cars try to show up to beat you every weekend. We were third out of all of them.”

Marks will take this weekend off before making his inaugural visit to The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., for the 7th annual World Finals with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Nov. 7-9.

“It’s the biggest race here at the end of the year,” he said. “I think we’ve done well enough this year we have the opportunity to go down there. It’s something good for us to do as a driver and a team.”
