Ian Madsen Seventh at Jackson Nationals
PETERSEN MEDIA- Aside form a tough go during the rain delayed Thursday night feature event, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing would have a nice showing at the Jackson Nationals that saw them finish sixth on Friday night and seventh during Saturday’s finale.
“It was a pretty decent weekend for us aside from Thursday’s feature that got pushed to late Friday afternoon,” Madsen said. “My guys did a great job, and we had a really good car and we are looking forward to three more nights with the Outlaws this weekend.”
Finishing 17th during Thursday night’s rain delayed feature event, Friday night saw Ian Madsen time the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in 11th fastest in time trials.
Powering to a heat race win from his second row starting position, the St Marys, NSW driver would make his way into the Dash where a seventh-place finish put him in the fourth row for the feature event.
With passing a bit tricky after half of Thursday’s show being ran prior to Friday night going green, Madsen was able to keep his mount well inside the Top-10 as a good points night saw him finish sixth.
Saturday’s finale saw Madsen take care of business from the front row of his heat race as he would pick up the win and earn a ticket into the King of the Hill event. Finishing seventh, Madsen would grid the field from the seventh starting position for the 35-lap Jackson Nationals feature event.
During the 35-lap affair, Madsen would battle the likes of older brother, Kerry, Donny Schatz, and David Gravel as they all jockeyed for position inside the Top-10.
Putting together another strong run, Madsen capped his Jackson Nationals with a seventh-place finish.
“It was good to end our weekend with a couple of Top-10’s, but we want to be even better,” Madsen added. “Excited to try and do that this weekend.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, , Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Cox Design and Fabrication, Armor Electric Company, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
