Madsen Garners Top-5 and Top-10 in Washington

PETERSEN MEDIA- Racing in the state of Washington over the Labor Day Weekend, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team would pick up a 4th place finish on Friday night, and cap the weekend with a 9th place finish on Monday night with a tough 14th place finish sandwiched in between.

“I have to thank Ripper and Joe for all of their hard work over the weekend,” Madsen said. “We certainly had our share of bad luck, but we worked really hard and it is cool to come away some with hard fought finishes.”

Friday night the scene was set at Skagit Speedway for the first of a twin billing at the iconic facility. Madsen would get off to a slower than usual start as he would time the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring machine in 13th quickest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Madsen would take advantage of the low car count format and pick up a second place finish in the qualifier which propelled him into the Fast Past Dash, which would be huge on this night with track conditions.

Lining up sixth in the Dash, Madsen would make one of the biggest runs of the night by anyone as he jumped up to third, which placed him in the second row of the feature event.

On an extremely locked down surface, Madsen would find himself in a great battle for the final spot on the podium. Going back and and forth, Madsen would ultimately settle into fourth, where he would finish to end the start of a three-race weekend.

Saturday night would be a tough night for the team as Madsen would again time in 14th quick, finish seventh in his heat before taking the checkered flag with a 14th place finish. Frustrated, the team traveled south the Grays Harbor Raceway to close their stay in Washington out on Monday night.

Issues would keep the team from going out when they were supposed to, but still went out and timed in 10th fastest in time trials. Lining up fifth in heat race competition, Madsen would finish seventh before a ninth place finish in the qualifier lined him up 13th in the feature event.

On a surface that allowed for some moving and shaking, Madsen would fight hard in an night filled with adversity that saw him work his way up inside the Top-10 and and take the ninth spot with the waiving of the checkered flag.

“We definitely had our trials and tribulations, but it is a testament to the people we have at KCP Racing that keep his grinding,” Madsen said. “Looking forward to getting to Oregon tomorrow night, and then down into California for a couple of weeks."

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1 Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
