Madsen Picks Up Big Sky Top-10 as Series Heads West

PETERSEN MEDIA- Having some bad luck amidst a good run on Friday night at Black Hills Speedway, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team picked up a Top-10 on Saturday night at Big Sky Speedway as the series continues to head west on it’s annual late summer tour.

“First off I just want to thank everyone that pitched in on Friday and help us switch out some parts to get us back on the track,” Ian Madsen said. “It was a job bigger than just what our team could do, and it is a great feeling to see so many other teams pitching in and helping out a fellow competitor. It was a bummer we ran over some debris while running Top-10, but we had some good speed over the weekend as he continue to head towards the West Coast.”

Friday night at Black Hills Speedway, Madsen would time the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in 9th fastest before running seventh in his heat race.

With a light car count on hand, a low-car format was in place and using a qualifier, Madsen would record a sixth place finish in that race.

Moving into the feature event, the St. Marys, NSW driver would roll off the starting grid from the 10th position, and would move forward nicely as the green was displayed. Working his way up into seventh and gaining on sixth, Madsen was run over some debris on the speedway which result in a cut tire sending him into the wall.

With a ton of front end damage on his car, and true family effort in the work area saw Madsen able to rejoin the field with a beaten and battered entry. Doing what he could given the circumstances, Madsen would work his way back up to finish 11th on this night.

Saturday night the series moved into Montana where Big Sky Speedway would be the venue on this night. Timing in second fastest in qualifying time trials, Madsen would race to a heat race win and put the KCP Racing entry in the Fast Pass Dash.

Not having much luck in the draw, Madsen would pull the six and would finish there when the six-lap shootout wrapped up.

Rolling off the starting grid from the third row, Madsen would battle the likes of Shane Stewart and Daryn Pittman as they worked inside the Top-10. When the action drew to a close, Madsen closed his stay in the Big Sky state out with a seventh place finish.

“These Dash Draws have not been kind to us,” Madsen said with a smile. “It was a good Top-10 run, and a pretty good weekend other that our incident on Friday. The guys are working hard and we will look for a big couple of weeks out West.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1 Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
