Ian Madsen Hard Charges In North Dakota
PETERSEN MEDIA- Kicking the unofficial second half of the season off on Friday night in Grand Forks, ND at River Cites Speedway, Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team had a very nice run that saw them charge up to a fourth place finish.
“We had a tough draw for time trials, and knew we had a good piece as we laid down a decent time on a pretty slow track,” Madsen said. “In the feature we got ripping, and I wish we had a late caution. We were getting better and I am curious to see if we could have made a run at a podium.”
Timing in seventh fastest on a track that was slowing tremendously in time trials, Madsen would like the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed entry up in the second row of his heat race.
With some minor track prep taking place before heats, there was a ton of passing to be done with the conditions, and Madsen’s fourth place finish put him 10th on the starting grid for the feature event.
When the race went green, Madsen would actually catch a rut and upset his car causing him to slip back to 12th during the race that ultimately saw two extended red flag periods.
Settling into a groove, the Australian native would get his machine digging forward rapidly as he worked the bullring and found himself up in fourth late in the race.
Laps were clicking off extremely fast as the leaders worked through traffic, and Madsen never would have a shot to battle for the podium. When the checkered dropped, Madsen accepted it in the fourth spot as the team now turn their attention to South Dakota and Montana this weekend.
“I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work and efforts,” Madsen said. “Knoxville wasn’t great for us, and we were disappointed, but to bounce back and start our trip West out with a strong run is just what we needed.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1 Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
