Madsen Records Top-10’s at Brown County and Cedar Lake

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting in three races over the last week to celebrate Independence Day, Ian Madsen would pick up Top-10 finishes at Brown County and Cedar Lake.

“It was another decent weekend for our team,’ Ian Madsen said. “Wednesday night we were okay at Brown County and finished 10th, and then Saturday at Cedar Lake we had a great run going in the make up feature until a cut tire sent us into the wall. The guys thrashed to get back up car ready for the regular program and we were able to finish seventh.”

Wednesday night Madsen would have to dig out of an early hole after timing in 13th fastest in time trials.

A nice run in his heat race saw the St. Marys, NSW driver advance to finish third after starting fifth, which put him in the seventh starting position for the 35-lap feature event.

Running between sixth and eighth during the feature event, Madsen would fight hard and it would lead him to a near spin as he continued to push the envelope. Able to get his machine pointed back the right direction, Madsen would lose a few positions as he slipped back to finish 10th.

Friday night Cedar Lake Speedway was the venue for the first of two nights of action and Madsen got underway by timing in 16th. Pocketing a fifth place finish in his heat race, Madsen would put the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 in the seventh row for the feature event.

With weather moving into the area, officials and teams did all they could to get the show ran before rain came. Running 12th on the seventh lap, rain would get the best of the race and it would be postponed to the following afternoon.

Restarting from 12th with 28 laps still to be ran, Madsen would do a great job of racing his way forward as he got up into fourth late in the race. Madsen’s run would be all for not as a cut left rear sent him into the wall destroying his car and ending his feature.

With the program moving right into Saturday night qualifying, Madsen and company thrashed to get spare car ready and they did it just in time as Madsen made it out for time trials and timed in seventh.

Finishing third in his heat, Madsen would take the green flag from the seventh starting position and worked into fifth as the rubber went down. Hanging on to the position, Madsen would close an eventful day with a fifth place finish.
“Despite all the adversity we went through Saturday, we still were able to stay focused and have a really good run,” Madsen added. “Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to those who continue to support our team.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Kline Electric, Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Greenland Homes, American Express, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, P1 Race Wear, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
