Victory Lane at Selinsgrove Speedway on 6/8/12
After a rocky start to the season, with an ill-handling car, switches going bad, just a lot of little things we had some things start to go our way the past couple of weeks. Working with another sprint car team on car set-ups, we started to show improvement each week. After a strong showing the heat race two weeks ago, JMR was looking for a strong finish…………Jacob did not disappoint. Earning his first career Feature win at Selinsgrove Speedway. With last week being rained out (yes we drove all the way to Selinsgrove from Newville and signed in, opened the doors to the trailer and it rained), drivers got to keep their “pill draw”, Jacob drew #7 which was low enough to put him on the pole for the heat race.
In the heat race Jacob jumped out to an early lead but under heavy pressure from the #5m of Kenny Murray, Jacob and Kenny made contact in turns 3 and 4, causing Kenny to spin bringing out the caution. Once back racing, Jacob would lead the remaining laps to claim his first Heat Race win at Selinsgrove.
Starting the Feature event on the pole, Jacob got a great start on the field. At one point having a 4-5 car length lead, with the laps ticking away, the #88 of Jessica Miller began to close and put pressure on Jacob. With the 2-lap to go flags out, the #88 tried to make a move on the low side coming off of turn 4, but could not make the pass stick. Jacob would bring the #18 Hyper chassis home for his first victory at Selinsgrove.
Jacob will be back in action next week on Friday night 6/15/2012 at Selinsgrove Speedway. Photos and video are posted on the website, be sure and check them out.
