Terminal Engine Failure ends night at Selinsgrove Speedway

What started out as a very promising night during the heat race, quickly turned into possibly ending our season during the feature event with only one race remaining at Selinsgrove. In the heat race, Jacob ran in 3rd place for all but one lap under heavy pressure from the #17 Cole Young. Finishing in 4th place in the heat race, and starting the feature on the second row outside starting position, as the feature started Jacob settled into 4th place, holding about 3 car lengths behind the #17. Then on lap ten, coming out of turn 2, shifting into 5th gear the engine suffered a terminal explosion, with a quick shower of flames and sparks. Putting a “golf ball” hole in the front of the engine cases, Jacob was credited with 6th place in the feature and still holds on to 5th place in points by 10 points, but it is highly doubtful that we will be able to acquire the parts and have the engine repaired in time to race for the final banquet position next Friday night. It’s tough to end the season like this, it will leave JMR with a sour taste over the long winter months. Making the anticipation (that cannot come quick enough) to get the 2012 racing season underway.
