There’s no better way to describe Brad Smith’s ARCA Menards Series career in one word than “resilient.” Dating back to the late 1980s, when he entered a Chrysler last raced by Buddy Arrington, Smith and his small team of volunteers have remained committed to going ARCA racing despite having to overcome obstacles that among others include a harrowing crash at Talladega that resulted in a lengthy hospital stay, and the tragic death of former car owner and fellow underfunded independent James Hylton. In the face of adversity, Smith has kept coming back to the track to the tune of more than 300 ARCA Menards Series starts, and his efforts were rewarded in 2020 when he finally picked up his first career top-10 finish in a race at Winchester Speedway.
