Bryan Hulbert – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 16, 2018) Wrapping up a busy three-race swing across Kansas and Arkansas, Blake Hahn netted a trio of Top 10 finishes with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.
“We’ve finished well at all three tracks in the past so we had some good notes to work off of. I felt like we could have run better at Lakeside and I-30, but in the overall, we are in the hunt and the break after these races, it gives us time to go over everything and test at a few tracks we have coming up on the National Tour,” commented Hahn.
Starting the run with his fifth podium finish of the season, Hahn finished second at Humboldt Speedway.
“We’ve run well at Humboldt every time we’ve rolled through the gate. We ended up starting on the front row with Wayne [Johnson] and got a run on him at one point, but the cautions didn’t really let us get into traffic and once the track worked to the bottom, I didn’t really have anything at that point.”
Rolling to Lakeside Speedway, the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 moved from sixth to fourth in Heat Race competition, putting Blake 12th in the A-Feature where he was able to move forward to a sixth-place finish.
“The first few laps at Lakeside, I was searching around seeing where the car felt the best. Once I got the top rolling, I started moving forward and as the race went on the car was getting better. A few times I cheated the cushion and felt the middle starting to come in, so I just kept doing it until I really felt it bite and picked off several spots there at the end.”
One of Blake’s favorite tracks, I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. capped off the three-race swing with Blake starting the night off with a Heat Race win that put him ninth on the A-Feature lineup. When the dust settled, Blake rolled under the checkered flag eighth.
“Just made a couple mistakes that cost me. I got up to fourth, but just messed up with about 10 to go and fell back. I really felt like we had a car capable of finishing on the podium. Hopefully we can go back a few times before Short Track Nationals and work on the car a little bit more. That’s a track I really enjoy racing at I-30.”
For the coming weekend, Hahn will be in action with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products at Creek County Speedway on Friday, May 18 and Lawton Speedway on Saturday, May 19.
The 2018 season is Blake Hahn’s 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars.
