This past Friday night Wayne Helliwell Jr. and the Witkum Brothers racing team rolled into Lee USA Speedway with their Scherbon Consolidated 350 Small Block Supermodified. Hoping to make it one more spot up the finishing order after starting the 2012 championship campaign with a second and third place finish. Ultimately they would not succeed in finding victory lane.
A fourth to third place run in his heat race would see Helliwell roll off 8th for the second week in a row. Once again an early hard crash would slow the action when [61] Mike Spurling and [24] Dave Sandborn climbed the turn 3 wall to bring out the red flag on lap 3. After a lengthy clean up it was all green to the finish with Helliwell battling a very loose ill handling race car he would struggle to a 6th place finish for round three of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. "We lost the balance in car tonight… I spun out at least 3 times during that race and didn't hit anything... We were just so loose i couldn't gain on anyone," Helliwell said of his cars handling. We have some work to do, to get back to the front. We'll keep working on it."
The Winged warriors are back in action next Friday night for more weekly racing series at Lee USA Speedway. Post time 7:00pm https://www.leeusaspeedway.com
