Helms Scores 13th-Place Finish With New Car at Home Track

Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (Oct. 18, 2016) – Caleb Helms made the short trip to his home track of Millstream Speedway last Saturday.

“It was nice to stay local and be able to race my home track this past weekend,” he said.

Helms opened Saturday’s Trick or Treat 30 event by qualifying 14th quickest out of 31 cars. His qualifying effort was sufficient enough to start on the pole for a heat race.

“We struggled a little bit at the start,” he said. “We brought the new car that we just finished building, so we’re still trying to get acquainted with that and shake it down.”

Helms finished third in the heat race, which transferred him into the 13th starting position in the main event.

Helms battled just outside the top 10 throughout the 30-lap feature before closing the race with a 13th-place finish.

“After our heat race we were starting to figure out the car and we made a few adjustments for the feature,” he said. “It definitely made the car better. We were running the high groove and got in the rough stuff, but were able to battle back and make passes for position.”

Helms is slated to compete this Friday and Saturday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. The All Star season finale pays $20,000 to win.
