First Outlaw Race
On June 17, the Legend Racing Team bolted in the 410 to compete with the World of Outlaws at the Granite City Speedway in Sauk Center, MN. After being postponed due to rain on it originally scheduled night, the fans returned in droves and witnessed a great night of racing. It was a fun event to be a part of. And for his first night in a 410, Jared did a very good job. We qualified 20th of 27 cars and were only a tenth of a second off of some of the full time outlaws. Jared was able to transfer into the main event through the B main. After starting 20th, he moved up a couple spots but then fell back to 19th at the end. We played things pretty safe as far as setting up the car goes just to make sure Jared got comfortable in the car. We also chose to run our spec tire in the feature rather than purchasing another outlaw tire which made sense financially but didn't help the car go faster. Overall, we had a really fun time, looked competitive at a high level, and learned some things but hope to do even better the next time we hook up with the World of Outlaws for a two day event at the Cedar Lake Speedway July 11-12.
We have also since raced with the UMSS during their first ever appearance at the Deer Creek Speedway during Pink Out night to raise money for breast cancer support. They have a great facility and a fun race track. The weather was perfect and the fans filled the stands to see the sprint cars. The number 9 was set up to have a great night. We ran very well in the heat and challenge races and lined up 6th in the feature out of 23 starters. We only made a pair of very minor changes but the car just wasn't the same. The tire we had been running all night just didn't refire and Jared worked hard but could only manage an 11th place finish. It was a frustrating end to the evening but we are still very excited about how the car is working overall and can't wait to redeem ourselves the next time we race with the UMSS at the Cedar Lake Speedway on July 10 as a lead in to the two day World of Outlaw show. It is sure to be one of the best weekends of the summer for sprint car fans. Hope to see you there!
