Starks Eyeing Victory During Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (July 20, 2022) – Trey Starks returns to action this weekend at Skagit Speedway, which hosts the Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals.

The $10,000-to-win spectacle is arguably the biggest 360ci winged sprint car event of the season in the Northwest and the dirt oval in Alger, Wash., has been good to Starks this year.

“I feel like this is the race where things have been leading up to,” he said. “Dirt Cup is a big race for the year as well as the World of Outlaws weekend, but this is the race we have the most experience for and the most notes on. We’ve been pretty good in a 360 all year. So the pressure is kind of on. If we keep doing what we’ve been doing we should be in good shape, but we have to focus and make sure we do everything right. Hopefully we’ll have a good outing and we can be there at the end on Saturday.”

Starks has earned eight wins in 12 starts this season with four triumphs at Skagit Speedway, including a trio in 360 competition. He also captured a preliminary night victory during the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup – the most recent marquee event at Skagit Speedway.

“The format this weekend is a little different than we’ve run with the 360,” he said. “You have to qualify good to get points and get through your heat race. There’s a 16-car invert in the feature on Friday. If all goes well we will be starting toward the back and have to pass cars to build points. We’ve been fast, but also had to come from the back to pass cars this year so I feel pretty good.”

Starks is coming off a triumph during the Skagit Speedway Mid-Season Championship Night, which moved him to sixth in the championship standings despite missing one race. He has captured three of the five 360 sprint car features at Skagit Speedway this season.
