Starks Scores Podium During Final Race of Season at Grays Harbor Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 26, 2022) – Trey Starks capped his season in the Northwest with a podium performance last Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Unfortunately, mechanical woes hampered the team throughout the season finale at the dirt oval.

“We put our spare engine in and just couldn’t quite get it to run right,” Starks said. “We had the hood on and off pretty much from the start of hot laps until we pushed out for the feature. We wanted to make sure everything was good with that engine because we didn’t want to run into issues when we had to run it. We did the same thing last year and obviously we found some issues. The good news is I think we have it straightened out, but we weren’t able to do that at the track.”

Starks qualified third quickest before a late-race pass earned a heat race victory. He started on the inside of the second row in the main event.

“We finished the race, but I was messing with the fuel and all kinds of stuff throughout the race trying to get it to run,” he said. “It wasn’t responding well. If I could have got up front I think I could have held them off, but I didn’t have enough to get by anybody.”

Starks maintained third throughout the feature before finishing in that position, which was his 15th podium of the season.

“It would have been great to end the season with a win, but at least the mechanical problems happened when it did and not during a marquee event,” he said. “We had a great season overall and we’re really optimistic about next year.”
