Blurton Captures Pair of Second-Place Finishes in Nebraska

Inside Line Promotions – NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 2, 2019) – Zach Blurton drove to a pair of runner-up finishes at Lincoln County Raceway last weekend.
“Second sucks,” he quipped. “We have had six second-place finishes this year. We’ve been really fast in the 360, but we need to tweak our setups a little more. It’s a little different setup than in our 305. We are getting there.”
On Friday Blurton stormed from his sixth starting spot to a heat race win, which put him on the pole for the feature.
“Man the car was good,” he said. “I led the first five laps and was moving around on the track trying the top and bottom. I could feel my left leg getting wet and I was about to pull in, but a red came out and I was able to make it to the work area. The fuel line came out of the pill holder and thanks to Jake Bubak’s crew for the help getting it fixed. I went to the tail and still drove to second. We just needed a caution.”
Blurton again won his heat on Saturday before he drove from third to a second-place finish in the feature once again.
“Friday we had the car to win and Saturday it was a second-place car,” he said. “We just missed the setup a little.”
Blurton plans to run his 305c.i. sprint car with the Lucas Oil United Rebel Sprint Series this Thursday at the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan., and Saturday at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan. Blurton, a two time and defending URSS champion, currently leads the series’ championship standings.
“We’re going to take Friday off and maintenance the car and relax a little,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to Thunder Hill. I’ve never ran there and I’ve been studying some video of the place.”
