Arnold Motorsports Kicks off Season at Malden Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (March 14) – The slate is clean, the engines freshened and expectations are high as Haley and Miranda Arnold fire off the season this weekend.

The sprint car sisters from Sedalia, Mo., open the 2011 season this Saturday at Malden Speedway in Malden, Mo., with the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour.

“It’s a pretty fresh slate and we’re pretty excited,” said Haley, an 18-year-old in her third season. “It’s always fun to leave your hometown for your first race. Just to get the kinks and bugs worked out before you race in front of your home fans.”

This is the Arnold’s inaugural USCS event and their first race at Malden Speedway – a 3/8th mile dirt oval. The duo will race virtually the same schedule, including events with the ASCS National Tour, Sprint Invaders and URSS. However, the only series they will chase points with will be the newly formed ASCS Warrior Region.

“That’s our main region and hopefully we can pick up a championship with that,” Haley said. “Going into this year I’m personally looking into picking up more wins.”

She claimed her first career victory last August at LA Raceway in La Monte, Mo., in a 305 sprint car, which both Arnold’s will again split time in along with their 360s.

“When it comes down to racing a 305 for track points or the 360, we’re gonna chase the ASCS Warrior Region,” Haley said. “I think (the win) was just a sparking point where now I know I can do it. I’m gonna go out this year and drive the heck out of this car.”

Miranda, a 15-year-old in her second season, bested Haley by one position last year in the 305 points standings at LA Raceway as both finished in the top 10. Miranda also placed eighth and won Rookie of the Year at Double-X Speedway in California, Mo.

“I want to pick up a win this year and work on more consistency,” Miranda said. “I have my on nights and my off nights, but consistency is the key.”
