Ray Allen Kulhanek is a 3 time ASCS Gulf South Champion and a 3rd generation racer. Ray Allen entered the racing ranks at the young age of 6 when he started racing 50cc motorcycles and later began BMX bikes at age 11. In the years following he moved through the different classes at local dirt tracks including Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks and Modifieds. In Ray Allen’s first two years on the circle track circuit he captured 2 track championships, rookie of the year honors as well as winning 22 out of 26 races in one season.

In 2001, sprint car owner David Miller noticed Ray Allen’s talent behind the wheel and offered a part time ride to the shoe. In 2002, Ray Allen joined forces with Miller in a carbureted sprint car and together the two won 2 track championships and dual rookie of the year honors in just a single season. In 2003 Kulhanek and Miller continued their winning streak by collecting 13 feature wins and 3 more track championships.

In 2004 Kulhanek and Miller decided to move up to the ASCS Gulf South division where Kulhanek claimed 4th in points and earned Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Driver.

From 2005 to 2009 Ray Allen had the opportunity to share ownership of a race team with Jeff Wagner, race for car owner James Parker, race for car owner Marvin Pearson, win his first ASCS Gulf South Championship, and run a variety of sprint and non sprint car races, along with winning 9 ASCS A Mains.

In early 2010 Kulhanek called Miller from the Chili Bowl and Miller offered Kulhanek a ride once again. During the 2010 season the duo won 1 ASCS Gulf South Region A- Main as well as the Gulf South Championship.

In 2011 the team came back strong winning 2 features as well as Kulhanek snagging his 3rd ASCS Gulf South Region Championship.

In 2012 Ray Allen and his team are hoping for a strong season and have high hopes of claiming a 3 in a row ASCS Gulf South title.

Ray Allen is the type of racer who wakes up thinking about racing and goes to sleep dreaming about racing. When asked his interests outside of racing he really had to put thought into it, “Racing is my life, I suppose I like other things, like watching movies with my friends, going to the lake, bowling and watching sports, but mostly I just like to race.” Ray Allen’s most memorable racing moment is making the A-Main at the 24th Annual Short Track Nationals in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ray Allen has several racing achievements under his belt but has 2 aspirations left, he would love to travel with the ASCS National Tour for a complete season as well as make the A Main at the Knoxville Nationals. Kulhanek said, “If I could do those things, I would feel completed.”
