Overheating issues plague Gray at DRRP
WHEEL, Tenn. (April 27) — Despite a radiator swap late Saturday afternoon, overheating issues that began the night before at Moulton (Ala.) Speedway followed the Jimmy Gray Motorsports squad to Duck River Raceway Park on Saturday, April 27. The team knew a radiator swap would be necessary if they planned to compete at Duck River on Saturday, but unable to find a suitable replacement, the crew had all but decided to forego the night — until they managed to dig an old radiator out of storage.
After making the swap and arriving at the track at 6:30 p.m. (missing hot laps), Jim qualified 15th out of 19 entries. Unfortunately, his night was cut short just two laps into the 20-lap feature, however, when his GM Performance 602 Crate Engine began to overheat again, forcing Jim to give up his 12th running position. He recorded a 16th-place finish. On a good note, Jim was able to spend 12 laps helping DRRP officials run the track in before the 602 feature began. That’s always a plus.
The team would like to say thanks to Definite Wellness and Victory Fun Park for everything they’ve done this season. The continued support is much appreciated.
