Streak of Bad Draws Continues

The team rolled into the weekend full of confidence, only to be shut out by terrible draws. Opposite of qualifying, the ASCS draws numbers at the start of each night to determine the starting order of each heat race. And for the last five races the CCR team has had to start last in their heat race. The 5c car was strong all weekend, but it's extremely difficult to start in the back every night, and it took it's toll this weekend.

Both nights this weekend, the poor heat race starting positions would lead to 10th and 8th place starting spots in the last chance, 12 lap, B Features races. Both nights Chris would advance towards the front of the field, but would run out of time before he could make it to a top 4 transfer spot.

"We took a few positive things away this weekend, and continue to learn. It's like drinking from a fire hose, we are trying to retain so much information, it's actually difficult to take it all in. We finally got the power steering working again of Saturday night, after six races without it. Again we learned something there. It's difficult as a driver to compete with these salty veterans, but it's twice as difficult to keep the car at 100% without an experienced crew chief. Then add in the poor draws every night, and we are doomed. But we are getting better every night with the car adjustments, and feel comfortable in the car, and I'm getting real aggressive. It will all click soon, and we won't even look like the same team. We are working on getting a new chassis, and I think that might do the trick. Our current car is about five years old, and it seams to work great in certain conditions, and horrible in others, it's just not consistent." - Chris

The team is currently review there schedule for the next few weeks, and Chris is taking some time to relocate from Greenville to New Braunfels, TX in order to focus more on the team and race preparation.
