Driver Information
I was Raised around drag Racing and as a kid read all I could about all kinds of Racing. Looked up to guys like AJFoyt, the Unsers and Penske, Tom Sneva, Jan Opperman, guys that did it all and were successful. I wanted to be just like them.
Got into Sprint cars n Modifieds on the Dirt track at W Memphis, Riverside Speedway, got to see Sammy Swindell start his Racing when I was 12. His dad Sam was a hot shoe there along with Bobby Ward, Hooker Hood, Hoyt Alexander, and later Jeff Swindell and Ricky Hood. All in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame now, many others would come thru there. Always great Racing there.
I build my first two cars in high school, 67 Camaro and a 68 GTO. Then after high school I hooked up with my first wife's best friends husband and we started building and Racing cars on the Dirt at Rocky Hill Speedway in Porterville Ca. Then when Rocky moved their show to Friday nites we started running at Oildale in Bakersfeild too. They liked Fighting at Bakersfeild, especally if ya beat'em on the track! But there was so many of us that came down to race they quickly decided to keep it on the track.
Steve n I were top 5 consistently.
After joining up in the Military I was a jack man on John Shroffs #18 Shakeys pizza sponsored nascar Gran American Dodge we won the championship in 82.
Worked on & raced street car after that for awhile n got into Rodeo. Always followed nascar but couldn't get a ride going, family came first.
Later helping out a friend Paul Fasching in Billings I got back into the drivers seat in my #15 Buick bodied, Howe chassis car but quickly ran outta money with no sponsor.
Started back drag racing at lewistown MT and Manhatten Ks.
Got back into circle track again in Kalispell after 3rd Divorce. Bought a turn key 85 Monte Carlo that the previous owner had passed away. Ran that a few seasons n moved to plummer after some time working with Trevor Emonds #17 team which helped me learn a lot more. While I was building the #18 Camaro that I Raced at Stateline, Ephrata, and Yakima in the west coast street stocks, later to become the west coast late models. I was the only street stock in the previous class lol.
Also ran the sportsman division on fri nites at Stateline. Then changed the car to run Hobby at Stateline had to change the number to 81. For a few yrs.
After a few bad yrs and a badly broken ankle from a logging mishap I built a latemodel sportsman that we never got to run cause the class didn't get started. Now I'm coming back with the 84 Troyer/Hanson Modified I bought from the Dave Weaver estate. Then the covid bullcrap screwed things up for a bit.
I hope to be Racing more often in the Future. I've always loved Racing and Driving Fast Cars.
I also have enjoyed many years of Horses, Rodeo and my Harley.
Hope ya come out and see us after each Race n say Hi. Thanks for supporting our Racing efforts around the Northwest. Some mighty good folks out here at these Race Tracks.
Thank you and God Bless
