Scotty Thiel
Scotty Thiel - Podium at Fairbury leads to WIN at the Prairie!
The Scott Thiel Motorsports team headed out Saturday morning for a double header weekend with the IRA sprint car series. First stop was at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL and then following up with a trip to Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI. After a strong run Saturday that lead Thiel to a podium finish, it would set the mood to drive to Victory Lane on Sunday at Sun Prairie!
39 cars signed into Fairbury American Legion Speedway on Saturday night with the IRA and MOWA co sanctioned series event. This was the first time winged sprint cars have been to Fairbury in 15 years. Scotty was the 27th car out to qualify and after putting down an 11.360 lap time it was 4th quick overall. Thiel would start fourth in the heat race event and worked the low groove for all ten laps and would finish in the third position. During the redraw session, Thiel picked the #4 starting position for the nights 30 lap A-main event. A strong field of cars set pace on the ¼ track of Fairbury for the A-main event. As the field took the green, Scotty worked the low groove early on to make his way up to the third position and would hold his ground for several laps before making his way into second. A tricky track set way to the field of drivers as the cushion was up against the wall and would get rougher as the race went on. Scotty moved up to the top side of the track and began to pressure the leader as they worked lapped traffic. Thiel’s car would get a little too loose as the race went on but still fought hard to get to the top spot. With the white flag in the air, Scotty jumped the cushion in turn two and fell back to the third position and would cross the finish line with a respectable podium finish. “We were just too loose early on and I lost the front end grip too much. I still drove hard to get to where we are at but just needed to be a little better setup wise. I think we had a chance at it but it was a tricky track to get a hold of. Traffic was tough but made for an exciting show. My guys worked hard to get us here so we’ll see what we can do tomorrow at Angell Park.” Thiel mentioned after the main event.
The crew trucked north to the Angell Park Speedway overnight and prepared for Sunday’s race. 22 cars checked into Angell park and Thiel would be the last car out to qualify. He put down a 12.452 lap time which was 4th quick overall. That placed him to start third in the heat race event. As the field took the green, Scotty worked the low line and pulled alongside the leader down the back stretch. He threw a big slider in turn three and would take over the top spot! For ten laps straight, Thiel never looked back and would take home the heat race win. During the redraw, Scotty would again draw the #4 starting position on the night for the 30 lap A-main event. The field took to the track and began to prepare for the feature event. The green flag waved and Thiel began his charge. He worked through the middle and would slide his way into the third spot in turn three and chase way into turn one. He pulled into the second position shortly after and set his sight on the leader. A few laps later, Thiel would slide his way into the lead coming out of turn two and began his venture through lap traffic. The race went green flag for 27 laps straight before a caution came out and would create a Green, White, checkered finish. Scotty knew that the restart was going to be extremely crucial after losing out on a Victory earlier in the year at Angell Park the exact same way. Thiel brought the field back to green and set his charge into turn one. He continued to work the top side of the track and after three laps would cross the line as the Victor and captured his third win of the season! “Man this one feels really good. We have always been strong here and we gave away a tough one a few weeks back. I was just on a mission to not let that happen again. My guys gave me an awesome car to work with tonight as I could go anywhere I wanted on the track and the car just worked great. I cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work and to all of our great sponsors that keep this thing going strong! Said an excited Scotty Thiel after the win!
Next up on tap for the #64 Scott Thiel Motorsports team is this coming Saturday night at the Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE). This is good, but can be hard to understand. We simplify this process. The numbering system we use is standard to the torsion bar industries. During our test sessions, data is collected and stored in our software, which then calculates it to a torsion bar size that everyone can understand. We have found 1025 bars that test between a 1012 and a 1036 bar. Our test services take away the guesswork. We provide you with a TORSION BAR RATE. Check out www.torsionbarrate.com for more info!
