Scotty Thiel – Dodge County Top 10 and a Wilmot Win!

A two day weekend lead the #64 team first off to the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam for the Rick Schmidt and Harry Neitzel Memorial event. Scotty drove his way to a ninth place finish after starting in the eleventh spot. The team followed that run up on Saturday night at the Wilmot Raceway for the local 410 event where Scotty would win his heat race and claim the A-main victory later in the evening!

21 cars signed into the Dodge County Fairgrounds on Friday night. Scotty was the first car out for qualifying. He put down a 17.981 lap time which was 9th quick overall. He would go on to start on the outside front row of the heat race event. On the initial start, Scotty would claim the lead coming out of turn two but it was called back as the front row went before the starting line. On the next attempt, Scotty was unable to make a charge back around the leader and would settle into the second position. As the checkered flag flew, Scotty would come across the line in the second position which would later line him up for the 25 lap A-main event in the 11th position. A tricky and slick track presented the field for 25 laps of racing action. The green flag flew and Scotty charged his way down the front stretch. He lost a little ground early on as he was stuck on the bottom side of the track. He moved his way up to the top groove and picked off a few positions, entering himself into the top ten. As the laps were counting down, Thiel made a late race charge to move into the ninth positon and would cross the finish line. “It was a decent night for the team. We struggled going out first in qualifying as the track was still marbles and the groove wasn’t really set in. The heat race we ran good but just couldn’t catch the leader. In the main we didn’t take off as well as I wanted but there wasn’t much passing happening anyways. I just need to thank Bob and Dawn Hood for partnering up with us and giving us a car to run tonight. We’ll figure this out and keep on charging.” Stated Thiel after the main event.

The team loaded up and headed south on Saturday to the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI for their weekly 410 sprint car program. Scotty was second quick overall in their grand prix qualifying format which takes place during the hot lap session. He would start fourth in the heat race event and after a hard fought ten laps, he would go on to claim the win and would start fifth in the 25 lap A-main event! The field took the green for the main event. Scotty worked the low groove to move into the third spot early on in the race. A few cautions and red flags came about over the first 19 laps of the main event. Scotty was in the second position as the white flag flew but another red flag came out which led to a green, white, checkered finish. On the restart, Thiel capitalized on the leader and charged under him in turn one. He slid his way into the lead and never looked back. Scotty would capture his second win of the season in less than a week! “It was a great night for our team. We struggled a little bit last night at dodge but this helped rebound forward. My guys gave me a great car to drive. It was a fun race to say the least. Thank you to all of our marketing partners who support us!” Scotty stated in excitement.

Next on tap for the #64 STM team is another double header this weekend starting on Saturday night at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL and then following that up on Sunday at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE).
