Bellm Moves on to Moberly after Solid ASCS Opener at Devil’s Bowl

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (March 24, 2017) – Kyle Bellm opened another full year of competition on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in solid form with a pair of twelfth-place finishes aboard the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car at last weekend’s 44th Annual Devil’s Bowl Speedway Spring Nationals in Mesquite, TX.

Series action continues in Bellm’s native Show-Me State with Sunday’s card at Moberly’s Randolph County Raceway.

“It was a good weekend of racing,” Bellm said of last weekend’s opener at Devil’s Bowl.

Although, it didn’t necessarily start on a positive note for the driver of the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry.

“We drew terrible,” Bellm said of the pill that put him at the tail of Friday’s fifth heat race among a field of nearly 50 entries.

Bellm picked up a pair of positions in his heat and then another one in his qualifier to land the fourth starting position in the “B” Main, from which he transferred on to the feature aboard the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions machine.

Starting from 21st, Bellm worked his way forward to a 12th-place finish. “We fought our way forward, we were really good in the feature,” Bellm said of the night.

A runner-up heat race finish and then third-place qualifier finish made it easier for Bellm and the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry on Saturday by earning a 15th-starting position for the Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals finale.

Bellm ultimately finished out the weekend with another 12th-place run in the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/The Engine Heater entry.

“We definitely had a top-ten car, It just took us a little too long to get going,” Bellm said of the Saturday night feature run before picking off three positions on the final restart to finish out the weekend. “I just needed another yellow or two or to have found my line a little sooner.”

With a solid Devil’s Bowl weekend that puts him among the top ten in early Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points, series action continues Sunday at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, MO.

Bellm’s most recent run at Randolph County Raceway resulted in a runner-up finish in Regional action last July.

2017 Quick Stats: 2 races, 2 twelfth-place finishes.
