Parker Martin
Martin falls just short of Lucas Oil Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora
Heading North to join the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Parker Martin joined 61 other competitors at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Friday afternoon as the half-mile oval hosted the opening round of the 43rd running of the Dirt Track World Championship.
After Friday’s program was delayed to Saturday due to continuous rain, series’ and track officials made the decision to shift heat races scheduled for Saturday to Sunday with hopes for better track conditions.
On Sunday afternoon, Parker started his heat race from the fourth position and finished fifth which relegated him to a B-Main. With one last shot to make the DTWC, Martin finished just one spot out of a transfer in his B-Main. Taking part in the Jim Dunn Memorial Non-Qualifier event, Martin wound 11th when the checkered flag flew.
