Carson McCarl – Rain Delays & Late Nights
Dallas, TX (June 19, 2019) – After a couple of frustrating nights last weekend, Carson McCarl is ready to reload and head up to Jackson Motorplex on Friday night, before heading down to Knoxville on Saturday! Last Thursday at Eldon with the Sprint Invaders ended with a DNF and an early rain delay left Carson with a good car, struggling to make his way forward on a narrow track, and ending the night 6th.
Thursday night at Eldon Raceway with the Sprint Invaders didn’t go as planned for Carson McCarl and his Cressman Enterprises/Jetco Electric #27. “We started fourth in our heat race and got caught up in an accident when a car got sideways in front of us,” said McCarl. “I actually got pretty lucky; we almost got upside down, but we were able to keep it right side up and finish 3rd in the heat.”
However, the night would end pretty early for Carson in the night’s main event. “We had quite a bit of damage to the front end after the contact in our heat race,” said Carson. “After taking the green in the feature, I had trouble with the steering and decided to pull in after a few laps and regroup for Saturday at Knoxville.”
After the DNF at Eldon, Carson was anxious to get back on the track at Knoxville on Saturday, but a small shower would cause a rain delay. “With all of the rainouts that we’ve had this year already, it was great that the crew at Knoxville worked so hard to get the show in on what ended up being a late night,” said Carson. “Once we were able to race, the track was heavy and pretty narrow from the rain.”
Going out early in time trials, McCarl wasn’t thrilled with his qualifying effort, which set the team back for the rest of the night. “Our qualifying time wasn’t great for where we went out,” said McCarl. “With the track conditions after the rain, we really needed to lay down a better lap.”
Starting fifth in the third 360 heat race of the night, Carson couldn’t quite find the necessary room to operate and move forward. “It was definitely tough conditions during our heat,” said McCarl. “We got caught behind two cars running side-by-side on what was still a pretty narrow track, so we weren’t able to add many points with our finish.”
Ending up 5th in his heat would leave Carson starting on the inside of the fourth row for the 18-lap A-main. Jumping up a spot early, McCarl would find it tough to work forward on the hammer down racetrack and end the night sixth. “The car was pretty good all night and our motor was running great, but the rain just made it a tough track to pass on Saturday,” said Carson. “All-in-all, it was still a pretty solid points night and we’ll be ready for this weekend.”
Carson will be back pulling the Jackson to Knoxville double-header this weekend, as he’ll take his Cressman Enterprises/Jetco Electric #27 up to Jackson Motorplex on Friday, before traveling back down to Knoxville Raceway Saturday night!
