USA Raceway - Tuscon
Wake up call @ 5:30am, coffee, juice, a little food and a great kiss from the wife to send us off to Tuscon. Walter Moore has graciously agreed to take time away from his family and help me. Thanks Walter! We arrive in Tuscon @ 3pm, park the rig and start unloading, well Walter is unloading as I take to the sleeper and grab a 1/2hr of nap time. Put shocks on set tire pressures and fuel up. Fire the car & out we go for hot laps not ever being on this track before, WOW, car is fantastically great! Let me say that again - WOW! Fast & fun! Towards the end of hot laps the engine starts to lay down & miss, so I shut it down & monitor the gauges - all is good? Pull in and check connections and fuel, nothing wrong, so we fuel and get ready to qualify. Qualify and same thing car will only run at less than 1/2 throttle, so I only make one run and park it. Now Im going to change the mag box, but something tells me this is not it. Heat race time, car starts out great then bam same thing, I nurse it along and finish. In the pits I'm not going to start changing things as there is not enough time, so I fatten the engine up and we start the main, at the green it is obvious that we still have a problem, so one lap later I pull in for the night. In review, I can't be more pleased that I think we found something. So, wrap it up, hit the hotel, clean up get some rest and then home it is - San Diego here we come :) - thanks for listening and see you at the next scheduled races.
