Sides Excited for Williams Grove National Open This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – SARVER, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2021) – Jason Sides is bound for one of sprint car racing’s biggest events of the season.
Sides invades Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., this Friday and Saturday for the $75,000-to-win Champion Racing Oil National Open.
“It’s one of those deals where if you don’t get qualified well it’s not going to be a very good weekend,” he said. “If you do you set yourself up for a good night. Right now we’re going in trying get qualified well, get in the show and work from there.”
Sides is coming off a ‘safe’ World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series weekend that featured races at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, and Lernerville Speedway.
“We were a little safe with our engine and really safe the second night,” he said. “I had it too rich just trying to make sure we didn’t hurt an engine.”
Sides timed in 15th quickest before he placed fifth in a heat race on Friday during the BeFour the Crowns Showdown at Eldora Speedway. That locked him into the feature, in which he placed 22nd.
The weekend concluded on Saturday with the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway. Sides qualified 29th quickest, but a charge from eighth to fifth in a heat race earned a lock-in position into the A Main. Sides gained a spot to finish 16th.
“It wasn’t our best weekend,” he said. “We’re down to about 10 races this year. It’d be nice to end the year with a win, but right now some top 10s would be real good.”

Sept. 25 – Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. – Qualifying: 29; Heat race: 5 (8); Feature: 16 (17).
