Battling Adversity on Friday Night of World Finals
The fall colors have changed, temperatures have dropped, and suddenly it is already November which also means World Finals weekend. Joining Destiny Motorsports just a few weeks prior, the team was eager to get down to The Dirt Track at Charlotte as they prepared for their first weekend on the track with ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ behind the wheel of the new black, white, and blue #7 paint scheme.
With two rounds of qualifying on Thursday setting the tone for the weekend, Dollansky registered the 5th fastest lap among the very strong 56 car field for Friday’s qualifying run followed by the 18th fastest for Saturday to also make the 20-car inversion.
Lining up inside row two of heat one on Friday, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim held the 4th and final transfer position a majority of the 8-lap event before losing power and retiring from the event. What was found to be a broken throttle linkage was fixed and Dollansky came through the B-Main finishing runner-up to transfer into the feature.
In the 30-lap A-Main the MonDak Portables #7 took the green flag from inside row six. As cars scattered all over the racing surface when action got underway, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ battled inside the top-ten in the early stages. After spinning in turn one to bring out the caution on lap 17, Dollansky again slowed to a stop six circuits later due to a flat left rear tire. With no guaranteed time in the work area, the #7 team made repairs quickly and rejoined the field. Following a caution on lap 24 when the Elk River, Minnesota native worked his way back up to thirteenth, more adversity surfaced on the last lap when contact with another brought out the caution and the #7 was scored with a 19th place finish.
The Destiny Motorsports #7 team will regroup and prepare for a new night of racing action tonight for the World Finals finale.
