Inside Line Promotions – ODESSA, Mo. (May 5, 2021) – Brian Brown is all smiles following his most successful weekend of the season.

Brown produced his first two back-to-back top 10s of the season, including a season-best runner-up result, during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown hosted by a hometown track just a short drive from his shop. The event was the first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series race at I-70 Motorsports Park since 1986 and was Brown’s first time racing there.

April 30 – I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Mo. – Qualifying: 4; Heat race: 1 (2); Dash: 4 (3); Feature: 2 (4).

“First and foremost, I never thought I’d see the day when we’d be racing at I-70,” Brown said. “It was a place I grew up going as a young, young kid. It was shut down for so long. It was great to see Chris Payne buy it with his partners and turn it into a state-of-the-art facility that we can bring our partners to and showcase what our sport is about. It was awesome being a part of the event as a partner with awesome crowds both nights and having FVP involved was awesome, too.

“We qualified well and won the heat, which put us in a good spot to go to the dash. We were fourth in the dash and in the feature we were right in the top five the majority of the race. We had a late caution and we were able to go fourth to second and almost sneak by Brad (Sweet) there to get a great finish.

“It shows how hard Chad, Nate and my dad have been working in the shop to bring good race cars to the track. I’m really excited for the rest of the year. Chad has some great ideas. From my perspective as the owner and team cheerleader the attitudes were always good. We knew we were on the cusp of being better than we were. We felt like we were going to unload with a good package at I-70. To go out almost dead last and qualify fourth showed that we really had a good car. Then to win a heat race, finish fourth in the dash and earn a podium in the feature validated that.”

May 1 – I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Mo. – Qualifying: 2; Heat race: 1 (1); Dash: 3 (3); Feature: 6 (3).

“It was great to have almost a couple hundred FVP customers and employees that were there,” Brown said. “Where they couldn’t come last year, it was good to see them and thank them for their support of FVP, especially after a tough year.

“We drew a little bit better number to go out earlier and qualified second quick. We won the heat again and were third in the dash. We took off in the feature and I don’t feel like our car was 100 percent where it needed to be. We hung in there and we were in the top five the majority of the A Main. The rubber came in and we fell back a couple of spots, but rebounded to get back to sixth. You’re not going to get it perfect every time. Two finishes inside the top six with that caliber of competition is a good weekend for us.”

UP NEXT – Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series

“It’s going to be a tough field,” Brown said. “Like always qualifying will be of the essence. I’d like to say our goal is to go in there and get two top fives. You have to get qualified good. If we can go in there, get qualified and get though the heat to be in a good spot for the dash I think two top fives are attainable.”
