Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2019) – Brian Brown enjoyed a successful season debut in Central Pennsylvania last weekend when he earned a trio of top-10 finishes, including a rally from 20th to fifth on Monday that garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

Aug. 30 – Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Qualifying: 3; Heat race: 2 (1); Feature: 6 (4).

“It was good to get back there,” Brown said. “We hadn’t been there in a year. The last time we were there we were pretty good at the National Open. We wanted to see if what we did last year worked. We started off pretty decent qualifying third. In the heat we weren’t that great and got passed by (Brian) Montieth. In the feature we were decent at times and not so decent at times. I feel like we should have ran third. I was running fourth and made a mistake trying to pass a guy and we ran sixth. Overall it was a decent night. Either you win or you learn and sometimes when you win you learn. It was a night we felt we learned quite a bit that will hopefully pay dividends down the road.”

Aug. 31 – Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. – Heat race: 3 (4); Feature: 8 (9).

“We knew going there with it being a handicap show that no matter how we did in the heat the best we could start (in the feature) was ninth,” Brown said. “It was kinda the same idea all weekend was that we need to go out there a week early to see if we can learn something that will help us. The conditions that we faced Saturday and Monday will be similar to what we’ll see in the Tuscarora 50. I think it even paid off on Monday.”

Sept. 2 – Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. – Heat race: 5 (7); Feature: 5 (20).

“You needed to be in the top three in the heat to make the feature redraw,” Brown said. “We got into the top three, but just weren’t good enough. I made some bad decisions on the setup on the car and I paid for it in the heat race. We went backwards after going forward. Me and Chad put our heads together to come up with a good plan for the feature and we were able to charge from 20th to fifth. We passed some really good race cars. That’s very exciting for us going into the Tuscarora 50 this weekend.”

UP NEXT – Thursday at Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pa., and Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions

“The last time we were at Bedford we won,” Brown said. “I watched some videos and we looked at our notebook and hopefully we can unload in the hunt. The All Stars are a fast group of guys right now. If you want to run good you have to be on your game.

“When Port Royal gets the way it was last weekend it’s very low grip. Usually at home if the tracks get that slick it lays rubber. Here when it gets that slick the racing gets better. It’s one of the raciest tracks in the world. It’s an unbelievable surface and what they’re doing with the facility, every time I go there I’m more and more amazed.”
